1.Compressor Drive

The core of the inverter in an air conditioner is its compressor and the drive of the compressor is performed by the Intelligent Power Module (IPM). The IPM controls the switching states of the IGBT to achieve variable frequency drive for the compressor. This allows the compressor to automatically adjust its operating speed based on the ambient and the set temperature, resulting in energy savings and comfort enhancement.

2.Temperature Control

The IPM can achieve precise control of the air conditioning system according to the control of current and voltage. When the indoor temperature exceeds the set temperature, the IPM increases the compressor's operating speed to accelerate cooling. Conversely, when the indoor temperature is lower than the set temperature, the IPM reduces the compressor's operating speed to minimize energy consumption. This intelligent temperature control mechanism allows the inverter air conditioner to adjust according to the actual demand, improving users’ comfort.

3.Protection Functions

The IPM is equipped with various protection functions, such as overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, and undervoltage protection. When anomalies occur in the air conditioning system, the IPM can promptly cut off the power supply to protect the compressor and the entire system from damage. Additionally, the IPM also has the function of overheat protection. When the module's temperature becomes too high, it will automatically reduce the working current or cease operation to prevent the damage from overheating.

4.Energy-Saving Effect

By precisely controlling the operating speed and runtime of the compressor, the IPM can reduce the energy consumption of the air conditioning system effectively. Compared to traditional fixed-frequency air conditioners, inverter air conditioners have a higher energy efficiency ratio. They adjust cooling or heating performance according to actual demand to avoid unnecessary energy waste.
